Monday morning was an early start at Matfen Hall for the first round of The Rock a North region PGA event. The weather was cold and very windy, I played nicely but struggled on the greens as with all the wet weather they were easily damaged with spike marks and bumps.
I played on Tuesday at lunchtime teeing off the 10th and got off to a better start but had a double bogey on the par 3 eighth hole, this was extremely frustrating especially as I had made a treble bogey on the same hole on Monday. I was level par for 36 holes and had given a handful away at one hole!
I got off to a quick start on Wednesday with birdies on the second and third holes, but it was an up and down day of birdies and bogeys combined with a number of missed chances, I finished at one under for the day and for the tournament which resulted in 5th place.
It was nice to see many of the guys I played amateur golf with when I was growing up and as I ate in the clubhouse all during the event it was nice to catch up and to spend some time with my friends.
I hung out with some friends during the week watching some movies and playing in my games room, as the weather continued to be awful. My office was completed on Thursday when my new curtains were fitted; they were the right length this time so I was pleased.
On Friday I went to a friends wedding reception, it was a good night and luckily for them it didn't rain all day. I had a quiet weekend at home as I have a busy week of golf planned.
