"Ambassador" Ken Promotes School Sport

Before flying out to Madeira Ken linked up with Newcastle School Sport Partnership, which is based at Benfield Sports College, to become their official ambassador. Ken said "I consider it a huge honour to be asked to be the partnership's ambassador, I just feel I want to try and give back something and if I can do that by giving a helping hand to the kids then I will be happy."

Ken is hoping to inspire more Newcastle school children to get involved in sport. Joyce Matthews, development manager of the Newcastle School Sport Partnership said "we're delighted that Kenneth has agreed to be our Ambassador. Most of the pupils in our partnership have taken part in Tri Golf or Snag Golf through our out of school hours programme, which has been running for the last three years, so its really fitting to have such a high profile golfer as our Ambassador. Kenneth is a really positive role model for young people and we hope his involvement will help inspire more pupils to enjoy sport both in and out of school."

The partnership was set up to promote high quality sport and PE in schools as well as encourage young people to get involved in sporting activities in their own time. Their mission is "encouraging engagement and enjoyment, inspiring innovation and inclusion in PE and school sport in Newcastle."
