I have spent the last couple of weeks playing and practicing hard, getting ready for a big run of tournaments leading up to the summer. It will be nice to have a good run of tournaments rather than the start stop as it's been so far this year.
I took time out to do the junior presentation night at Tynemouth Golf Club. It was lovely to see so many kids turn out, especially the girls. Everyone seemed to have a great time being part of the night which the club pro John McKenna put together. The highlight of the night was a nearest the pin competion on a golf simulator and before you ask of course I didn't win, one of the juniors it to 3 foot and I missed the green with my 2 shots.
My Mum is the captain at Alnmouth Golf Club this year, the club where I spent many years and was made a lifetime honorary member after winning the British boys in 1996. It was her charity night last week and I went up to support her on her quiz night in aid of Marie curie. The night was a huge success and everyone seemed to enjoy the night and the chance to ask me some questions, which ranged from my tip for the Masters to life on tour. It was lovely to catch up with some old friends as it amazing how quickly time flies.
I thought I'd share this with you as well. Titleist are doing a pretty cool competition to design and present me with a custom pair of myjoys at Wentworth in may, which I will be wearing during the BMW PGA Championship. If you go to www.footjoy.co.uk you'll see the main image highlighting the competition. This image links you to a blog which has a few simple lines explaining the competition. To enter you simply need to go to www.myjoys.co.uk and design the shoes, then use the email summary button to email your chosen design to ukcomfortzone@acushnetgolf.com remembering to give your name and email address.
Good luck and look forward to meeting the winning designer.
