U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee
I played the Monday Pro-Am on the tournament course Brown Deer Park and had a great day. Its always nice when you get good partners to play with, it makes the day very enjoyable, hopefully our group all had fun too. The course was a public course, unfortunately the rough was a bit patchy so similar shots were getting very different lies!
I played nine holes on Tuesday morning to get a feel for the course again. I hit the ball nicely, with everything feeling as though it was in good shape. Wednesday was a quiet day and was spent catching up on some paperwork and some laundry.
I played with Chad Collins and Mike Johnston this week. I have played a few times with Chad this year and he is a nice guy, Mike was a local pro who Monday qualified to get into the tournament. We had a good time with lots of chatting and laughing on the way around. I played good again but nothing really happened, I was frustrated by my unlucky lies that seem to keep occurring. I layed up at 18, my ninth hole on Thursday and when I got to my ball it was in a huge divot which led to a bogey, when it rains it pours! I ended up shooting a round of even par which was disappointing but it wasn't the end of the world, but I knew I would need a good round on Friday to make the cut.
I started early on Friday morning after being up all night with a bad stomach. It was a day of one step forward one step back. I needed to make some birdies coming in on the back nine as the video monitors around the course were predicting the cut to be two under par so I tried to force the issue which ended up going against me this week, as I made two late bogeys and ended up missing the cut by a couple of shots.
I spent Saturday and Sunday watching The Open, Greg Norman certainly added some drama and suspense to the event but Padraig never gives up and you could never count him out. I was right last week when I said I would be sad missing The Open, sitting watching it on TV had me wishing I was playing, even with all the terrible weather.
I flew to Canada on Sunday night after a few hours delay, I have heard great things about Glen Abbey, it is supposed to be a great course and I am looking forward to seeing it and again hoping that this is the week I have been patiently waiting for.
