Thankfully, tour representatives met us when we arrived on Sunday, as the immigration hall was so full you couldn't get off the escalator. We flew through and then had to wait for our bags before being shuttled to the hotel. We stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba onsite this week, it is very impressive the course surrounds the hotel and villa complex and some holes are next to the beach and the ocean. There is no need for a car as we were shuttled to and from the hotel to the golf course by golf buggies and each night there was a bus to take players and their families into Playa del Carmen. There are trips each week for Players and their families and this week was no different, there was trips to explore in caves, swim with dolphins and visit ancient Mayan ruins, unfortunately I was too busy practising to go on any of the trips.

The golf course "El Camaleon" was only opened in 2006, but it is in great condition and is a good test. The greens are a special kind of grass that allows them to be watered with salt water, all other grasses used on golf courses die with salt water, but this is a necessity here as there is very little fresh water. Most of the holes are surrounded by jungle and waterways, as it's a natural habitat there are iguanas and other creatures throughout.

I had dinner with my caddy Ron and his girlfriend Helena on Wednesday evening. Helena owns the company Rocket Tour, she makes some great headcovers in allsorts of colours and it all started out as a one off gift for her Dad. We had a great dinner in Playa del Carmen and were serenaded by Mariachi singers, it was nice to sit out and have dinner in good company.

I got off to a great start to the tournament, this was one of the frustrating things about last season, I never got of to a good enough start to contend in many of the events as I was so far behind after the opening rounds. I had six birdies and all but one was from less than four feet so I was pleased with my ball striking and my position in the field.

The wind was blowing hard like home, especially nearer to the water for my second round. I hit the ball very well and was pleased with my round. Only one person in the morning tee times broke par compared with seventeen in the afternoon, as often happens the scores are affected by the weather and there is nearly always a better half of the draw to have been in, this week it would have been better weather wise to have had early and then late tee times as the wind dropped on Friday afternoon.

The third round was a frustrating day, with lots of opportunities but nothing seemed to fall my way. I was two over through three holes and kept plugging away but wasn't able to convert my good play into good scoring. The weather forecast this morning showed a low of 73 and a high of 91 and boy was it warm out there.

My fourth round was fairly solid, and I moved back up the leaderboard into 19th place. I started the year in a category with other graduates of Q-school and the Nationwide tour, at different points in the year they reorder this category on money earned this season. I should move up from 30th position to the top 20 which will help me get into more events.

I am flying to Fort Lauderdale today to go to the Honda Classic tournament so hopefully my flights will be on time.
