Walking and Watching

I arrived in Manchester 40 minutes early, which was a first and sailed through immigration and baggage claim. The drive home was quiet and I arrived home by lunchtime on Monday. The most alarming thing I had to deal with was when I filled my car with diesel and it was £120 to fill it!!! In America everyone is complaining at the prices of petrol but they are still paying way less than we are, they are paying around £1.70 per gallon as opposed to us paying £1.20 per litre.

On Tuesday I ordered some new blinds for my house, I didn't see what all the fuss was about I made a decision on the fabric and had them ordered within half an hour. I spent some time sorting prizes for the golf day as some had arrived while I had been away.

I had a lesson booked with my coach John Harrison on Wednesday afternoon, but as we hadn't seen each other since Christmas and I'm home for a few weeks we had lunch in the clubhouse at Matfen and then we went back up to the range. It was great to catch up and discuss what has been going on with my game and travelling and also what John has been doing. He always has great advice and does it in a way that you don't realise he is giving you any.

Thursday and Friday were spent around the house with the golf from Wentworth on the television. Wentworth is one of my favourite events of the year so I was disappointed not to be playing. Unfortunately, if I don't play eleven events in Europe through my exemption my membership would be suspended next year so if I want to play any events in Europe this year I have to request a sponsors invite. At the moment I don't know which events I will be playing in America towards the end of the year but I may try and play some in Europe.

I went to St Andrews for the weekend, but didn't play any golf it was my time to walk around and watch as my girlfriend was playing in a tournament. We had dinner at the clubhouse at St Andrews Bay overlooking the town with beautiful views with some friends on Saturday night after a practice round on the Old Course. Then it was an early start on Sunday as amateurs play 36 holes a day, it was strange to be the one walking around watching and filling time. The course was being prepared for the Curtis Cup next week and the signs and tents were out. I have to admit it was boring for one day so I don't know how she does it and not only tournament days but on practice rounds too!
