KLM Open

Firstly I would like to congratulate Chris Paisley who as an amateur won The Rock tournament at Matfen Hall a couple of weeks ago. It is a great achievement and couldn't come to a nicer guy, I had the pleasure of playing with him and his brother Andy before he left for College in America and I hope his good form continues on the college circuit. I was disappointed not to be able to play in The Rock tournament at my home club but my house move made it impossible, hopefully I will be available to play next year. I'm pleased to report we are settled in our new house and I am looking forward to the last part of the season out on tour.

I enjoyed last week at the KLM Open, I got off to a great start with a round of four under par, four birdies and no bogeys. I followed it with a disappointing four over par, which after being four over through my first four holes was not too bad. I made the cut on the number at level par. Another good round followed on Saturday with a round of two under, a solid day with four birdies and two bogeys in windy conditions, which moved me up the leaderboard. My final round was another solid round but with two birdies and three bogeys, I was disappointed that I bogeyed the last for a round of one over par and finished in 46th place. What an ending for poor Ross Fisher, he is a lovely young guy on tour and I am pleased that the rules were clarified and he managed to win his first tour event.

I got home Sunday night and spent Monday making final preparations for my charity day on September 3rd at Matfen Hall, sadly a couple of teams have had to pull out due to other commitments. Fingers crossed it will be a great day and raise plenty of money for Marie Curie and Make-A-Wish. I am looking forward to the auction as we have a great list of prizes, some of those included are:

Tiger Woods personally signed 2006 Open Flag
Phil Mickelson personally signed 2006 Masters Flag
Vijay Singh personally signed 2004 USPGA Flag
Angel Cabrera personally signed 2007 US Open Flag
Pele personally signed shirt
England Cricket Squad Sri Lanka Test signed shirt
Newcastle Falcons 07/08 Squad personally signed shirt
Shay Given personally signed shirt

I will post the Pro-Am results next week and let you know how the day went.

I'm off to Gleneagles for the Johnnie Walker Championship this morning and hope to follow up on last week's solid performance.
