Sorry to all the regular readers of my website for the lack of news updates but there hasn't been too much worth writing about. I have been hitting the ball nicely but not making the most of it...pretty much how its been for the last couple of years.

As you might remember from the last update, FootJoy were running a competition to design my shoes for the BMW Championship at Wentworth. The lucky winning designer presented me with the shoes on the Wednesday morning and what a pair of shoes they were! As you can see from the picture I really stood out from the crowd and got some great comments from the spectators as you can imagine.

Before flying to Munich last week I managed to find time to go to the opening day of the tennis at Wimbledon on Monday. I had a great time getting to see world number 1 Roger Federer open up on Centre Court and also got to see number 3 seed Novak Djokovic. The weather was perfect, if not a little too hot at times but that's something I shouldn't really complain about with how the weather has been this year! I enjoy watching all types of sports and this was no exception, not only was it good to see the tennis but the atmosphere was amazing and I really hope I can get to go back next year.

I flew early Tuesday to Munich and got to the course mid morning. After sorting my bag and locker out I headed down to the range to loosen up before going to play. I have played the BMW tournament for the last few years and know the course very well so I used the day just to get used to how the course was playing rather than working out where to go and what clubs to hit.

I got off to an average start being two over par after five holes of Thursday but came back well to finish at five under. A bogey free round on Friday saw me shoot 67 again and be in a good position for the weekend. I was bogey free on Saturday until a bad drive at the par five 18th lead to a 6 and a round of 70. I got off to a good start on Sunday and moved up the leader board until bogeys at fourteen and fifteen put an end to my good run, luckily I managed to repair the damage with birdies at sixteen and eighteen to end the week at 16 under par. All through the back nine it looked like I would finish just inside the top 10, but with my good finish and a couple of slips from other players it moved me up to third place. That's my best finish for a few years now and shows as one of my old caddies text me on Sunday night, "There's life in the old dog yet".

People have asked me what the difference was and it's the million-dollar question...if I knew I'd bottle it and be a rich man. I have been working hard on my putting, with my old Putting Arc and it showed last week in spells, I holed a lot more 10 - 15 foot putts, these make a huge difference to a round and can really keep your momentum going. I also had a new man on the bag, DJ, he is originally from the west coast of America, he lived in the North East of England for a while and now lives down in Surrey. Having a new outlook on the game and on certain shots can really make a difference so hopefully this will continue on.

I have to say well done to David Horsey and his caddy Ricey for their win in Munich, I have played with David a few times now and have always been very impressed with his game, especially his putting. I'm sure from what I have seen this wont be his only win on the European Tour.

I'm sat writing this in my extremely hot hotel room in France, the Paris National golf course is one of my favourite venues on the tour. The course is pretty soft which is unusual but I'm sure with the 30+ degree forecast it will firm up and play more like we know it can. I'm hoping my good form will spill over from last week and it will kick start a good finish to the season and see me challenge for a few titles. I have had some success here before and as I've said many times, it's nice to go back to a course where you've got good memories.

I must say well done to my coach John Harrison for his start to the European Senior tour season, a great finish in his debut plus a couple of other good finishes has him in a healthy position on the money list and I'm sure he'll keep improving throughout the season.

Keep an eye out next week at Loch Lomond for a very exciting release of the new Titleist 910 driver, I have seen the pictures of it and heard feedback from guys who have tested it at the Carlsbad test facility in San Diego and am very much looking forward to getting my hands on it.
