Merry Christmas
Its great to be home, I enjoy travelling around the
world and know how fortunate I am, but there is still
nothing better than coming home especially after a
long month at Q-school. Things have been busy since I
got home as I have been asked to do a number of TV and
telephone interviews which are always good fun, but it
has been hectic trying to get ready for Christmas,
prepare for next season and find time to see the
press. Matfen Hall has been a great host to most of
these interviews as it is such a great venue the
photographs always come out well.
I had the pleasure of presenting the two chosen
charities of The Ferrie Foundation for 2007, the
Make-A-Wish Foundation and Marie Curie Cancer Care,
each with a £6,250 cheque, which will be used to help
people here in the North East of England. Sir Hugh
Blackett the owner of Matfen Hall kindly helped to
present the cheques and the ladies from both charities
explained how the money will be used; this has made me
certain that I will host a charity event again in
2008. I have found working to make my charity day a
success very rewarding and will be looking to raise
more than £12,500 next year so that we can help even
more people.
I am looking forward to having my family over for
Christmas day, it is our first year hosting but my Mam
is still going to do her roast potatoes, nobody else
can do them like her! I will try and catch up with my
friends, as I am not sure what my schedule will be in
2008 so it may be a while before I am back for a
lengthy break.
I will be at St James' to watch the Derby match on the
23rd and am hoping Newcastle United will win and go
into the New Year in good form. Newcastle is a
different place when the football team is playing well
and hope they will have a good run and start
pressuring for those European places.
New Year will be a quiet affair as I will be
travelling back to Florida on New Years Day to spend a
few days practising before I travel further west to
Hawaii, where hopefully I will be playing in The Sony
Open. The website will have a facelift for the New
Year and this will be updated during the first week of
January so you will be able to see what equipment I
will be using in 2008.
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year and to thank everyone for their messages of
support throughout 2007.
