Since my last event on the European tour at Valdarama I've been enjoying some time at home after a busy year. Most of my time has been spent in the gym and practising for the 2007 season. I've been working hard mainly on my cardio and light weights trying to get down to my "fighting" weight! So far I've managed to lose two stone and I'm still counting. I've been working with my coach, John Harrison, at Matfen Hall on a few minor swing changes and feel we are moving in the right direction, trying to get more consistency. Hopefully this will pay off and we will see the benefit of this in my results.

Other than the gym and golf I've been enjoying spending time with my family, making up for all the time spent away. I've also been a regular at St. James Park this off-season watching Newcastle United play some good football. In November I was fortunate enough to be invited to travel with the team to their away game in the UEFA cup against Frankfurt, this was a great thrill for me and was a chance to catch up with friends and play some golf

We had a lovely family Christmas at my parents house in Ashington but am now ready to get back on tour. I will be starting my season playing the Middle East swing in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Dubai in a couple of weeks. This is a very exciting year for me, as most things are starting afresh. I have a new manager, attachment, sponsorship, and a number of exciting things in the pipeline, all of which I will share with you in good time. 2007 will also include my Masters debut and a return to the US Open, hopefully my first Masters will be as successful as my first US Open was in 2006. One of my main goals for the year is to smile more and have fun on the golf course as I appreciate just how privileged I am to be doing what I love for a living.

As I mentioned I have a new attachment, I recently signed a two year deal to be the touring pro for Matfen Hall, this is a great thrill for me as I have been associated with the complex for a few years now, but this makes it official. I look forward to representing the Matfen brand wherever I play in the world and help spread the word. Look out for the logo I will carry on my bag and check out my sponsors page for more info.
